Outreach Ministries
Extending Christ’s Love to Our Community
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
At St. Bernard Catholic Church, our Outreach Ministries lie at the heart of our mission to share Christ’s love with every member of our Breaux Bridge community. Through compassionate service, intentional prayer, and creative expressions of faith, our outreach ministries extend our care beyond the St. Bernard church walls—inviting each of us to grow in service, healing, and fellowship.
We encourage you to explore these outreach opportunities, find a ministry that resonates with your calling, and join us in making a tangible difference for those around us.

St. Joseph’s Altar is a cherished tradition rooted in Sicily, where families once honored St. Joseph during times of hardship by creating food altars in thanks for His intercession. Typically arranged in three tiers symbolizing the Holy Trinity, these altars feature a statue of St. Joseph, along with offerings of bread, baked goods, fruits, vegetables, and meatless dishes, accented by Italian cookies, candles, flowers, and holy cards. The celebration, now celebrated annual on St. Joseph’s feast day (March 19), is enriched by the Tupa Tupa ritual—a re-enactment of the Holy Family’s search for shelter—which reminds us of the importance of faith, hospitality, and charity.
